Victorian Turquoise Ring Navette Large 18k Gold

$ 2,280.00

Turquoise is a rather fascinating stone. Used in some of the oldest jewelry found on earth, it comes in an array of colors and patterns. Sometimes it shows a lovely crackled pattern, sometimes it is perfectly clear and bright, like a cloudless desert sky. The Victorians particularly revered these sky-blue beauties, mostly the stones came from Persia, and the Victorian cutters cut them to show as little matrix as possible and emphasize their amazing color.

This Victorian ring holds an elongated, navette shaped, cluster of Persian turquoise gems. The center stone is an oval cabochon of 8.3x5 mm, it is surrounded by 14 round cut cabochon gems and 2 pear shaped cabochons, a total of 17 stones. The ring is large in scale, a size 11 with a face that measures 24.2 mm north to south and 12.7 mm across, it sits 6 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.3 mm at the back of the band. This ring is not marked but we’ve carefully acid tested it as 18 karat gold. The ring weighs 8.3 grams.
