Dating to about 1950, this pendant is crafted in 18 karat gold with silver topped settings, a traditional technique used to enhance the brilliance of diamonds. It is set with 28 old European cut diamonds totaling approximately 5.5 to 6 carats. The center diamond measures 5 x 5 x 3.3 millimeters and weighs approximately .6 carats. Twenty one diamonds measure approximately 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 millimeters each and weigh approximately .20 to .25 carats each, totaling approximately 4.75 carats. Three smaller diamonds total approximately .25 carats, while the bale adds approximately .10 carats. The diamonds are bright, lively, and beautifully matched overall, with one stone showing more visible inclusions than the others. This sizeable pendant measures 35.5 millimeters north to south including the bale, 24.8 millimeters across, and stands 9 millimeters from front to back. It weighs 7.5 grams. Though unmarked, it tests as 18 karat gold with silver settings.
