Vintage Norman Grant Purple Enamel Flower Ring Silver

Did I ever tell you about that time that I posted a Norman Grant pendant on my Instagram? Okay, well, I’ve done that more than once, but the first time was long ago, Instagram was a relatively invention and so I was always delighted to get a comment or a message. This day I got a message and when I opened it said: “I am Norman Grant’s son, we’re just sitting here having a pint at the pub and I came across this piece of my Father’s. He says to say ‘hi’!” I was SO thrilled. Talk about the internet making the world small. One degree from Norman Grant. He died a few years ago, the world may miss him but it doesn’t have to miss his work. Here’s a fantastic piece that he made in 1973.

This delicious flower ring is quite the head-turner! Hand crafted by the one and only Norman Grant and marked with the hallmarks for Edinburgh, Scotland, Norman’s makers mark (we’re on a first name basis, Norman and I) and the year 1973. This ring measures 25.1 mm north to south and 25.9 mm across, it sits 4.3 mm off the finger and narrows to 4.2 mm at the back of the band. This size 6.25 ring weighs 6.8 grams.

This scrumptious flower ring with pink and purple enamel reminds me of my childhood, it’s got a little bit of bohemian in its soul.
