Like a sail unfurling into the wind or the silhouette of a chandelier mid-twirl, this striking silver pendant bridges the line between sculpture and ornament. Designed in Norway in the early 20th century, it evokes the bold geometry and lyrical motion of the Scandinavian Modernist movement, clean lines, rhythmic forms, and a strong sense of purpose. There’s a confidence to its construction, a poise in its balance, that makes it as wearable today as it was a century ago.
This pendant necklace was designed by David Andersen and marked with '925S' for sterling silver, 'NORWAY', 'INV.B.S.0', the scales symbol, and the maker’s mark D-A. The pendant measures 51.6 mm by 46 mm, is 2.5 mm thick and weighs 17.62 grams. It comes suspended from a 39.5-inch sterling silver chain, itself beautifully marked with STERLING, 925, and a tree symbol with a “G” and “L,” along with another partially legible mark that appears to begin with a P. The chain weighs 19.45 grams. Combined, the necklace weighs 37.08 grams.
A substantial and thoughtful piece, this necklace offers timeless design for anyone drawn to Nordic elegance, artistic jewelry, or the power of wearable architecture.
