Antique Art Nouveau Opal Amethyst Necklace 15k Gold

I was thrilled when I crossed paths with this fantastic Arts and Crafts necklace. So many of the wonderful Arts and Crafts necklaces that I see are done in silver and enamel, so finding one in gold is always a treat, finding one in high karat gold, a treat and when you add in the wonderful combination of rich, purple amethyst and rich, blue/green opals, it is a true feast for the eyes.
Hand crafted in England in about 1910, this wonderful necklace has stunning clean lines of 15 karat gold. The center stone is a 8.4x6.6x5.8 mm and weighs about 1.70 carats. The necklace is further set with two cabochon opals, one is 7.3x5x2.4 mm and weighs about 0.40 carats, the other is 6.4x4.5x2 mm and weighs about 0.25 carats, both are gorgeous bright opals with a lot of fire and life. The chain is 17.25 inches long around the neck, the drop falls 48.6x28.3 mm and the necklace weighs 6.6 grams. This necklace is marked on the reverse with ’15ct’.
I have to admit, I actually bought this beautiful antique necklace awhile ago, it’s taken its time and had a little detour through my own personal jewelry box, I couldn’t help it, this handcrafted antique beauty just has style in spades!
